Photos > [2010-01-02] Na Pali Coast

The most scenic part of Kaua'i is the Na Pali coast, a stretch of shoreline along the northwest side of the island. Due to rapid erosion, the cliffs lining the shore are steep and rugged, and rise up to 4,000 feet above the sea. There are also several sea arches & caves, and a sort of hippy commune at Kalalau Beach where hikers & semi-permanent locals stay.

I got great views of Na Pali from the rocky shoreline just beyond Ke'e Beach, from a catamaran that toured the central stretch of the coast, and from a day hike along the first part of the incredible Kalalau Trail.
