As the oldest of the main islands in the Hawaiian archipelago (over 5 million years), Kaua'i has eroded more than the others, so it has a rugged, rocky landscape. I explored the Na Pali coast and Waimea Canyon, with various stops in-between. Everyone loves nice beaches & clear blue water, and there are plenty of those around, too. But it's the hiking trails and the isolated wilderness in central & western Kaua'i that make it exciting to visit, and probably the most enjoyable island to live on.
